Icons - Address Book Adding & Updating Contacts
There are 3 Ways Add a New contact. Use the Address Book Icon, the Skype Icon or you can add them when they Skype you.
1 -Add a new contact with the Address Book Tab Icon
There is an Icon in each Tab that looks like a book (Address Book Icon). Use this icon to edit an existing tab users information or to open the address book to add more users. The same Address Book Icon is located in the far left of the Chat bar. You can use this Icon to access the Address book directly by clicking on Add "new entry" at the top of the pop up or by clicking on the Edit Pencil Icon beside any users line.
2 - Add a new contact by using the Skype Toolbar Icon
Click on the Green Skype Icon in the left of the Toolbar and the usual Skype Add contacts menu will pop up. Simply follow the directions to add a new contact
3 - Add a contact when they Skype you
If someone Skypes you that is NOT in your address book our Chat bar will automatically display a "Add this user to your address book" line in the tab that pops up. You can quickly add them to your address book this way and edit their information quickly as well.
After Adding new contacts our chat bar updates the address book automatically but you can do it manually if you add users to native Skype. Do the Following:
- Open the Edit Pencil - Go to the Appearance Tab - Scroll down until you see a push button called Import - Click the Import button and all new contacts are added

Skype Issue - Video API Not Available
We have requested for Skype to give us the ability to access an API for Video use to incorporate video into our tabs for pop up but there is currently no way to do that. To start a video chat you first have to call a user from our bar and then click on the video icon in the call management section (where the call information pops up in the right side of the bar). In some cases you will also have to click on the Skype name of the user to get the video to begin. This is a Skype issue that has been reported

Skype Issue - Video not available in Conference Calls
Video is NOT available in conference calls because the Skype API's do not allow for video chat with more than one user at a time. Once this functionality is available from Skype we will add it immediately

Tabs - Creating New or Permanent ones
New Chat Sessions can be created in 3 ways
If you want to create a new chat session with someone there are 3 ways to do that. They are listed below:
1 - Incoming Skypes where users not in your address book creates a tab and ask if you want to add them 2 - Use the Green Skype Icon in the far left of the Toolbar to add a new contact using the standard Skype pop up 3 - Click the white recent chats icon in the toolbar or address book & click on a previous chat that you want to reopen
Creating a Permanent Tab
The easiest way to create a permanent tab (one that shows up in the toolbar all the time) is the open the edit pencil icon, go to the Address book tab, choose the name of the user that you want make a permanent tab and click the check block for "check this to show a permanent tab for this person". Once this is done the tab will remain as permanent. Setup permanent tabs for people that you chat with the most but remember that permanent tabs disable the X button on the tab itself so it cannot be removed from the toolbar. You can remove the permanent tab using the check block used to create the tab.
NOTE: You can also get to the users information quickly by clicking on the address book icon on either the chat tab you are in or in the address book pop up

Tabs - highlighting can't be cleared
If you can't clear the highlighting on a tab (by clicking in the reply section to mark it as read) the likely issue is that you have a file that was sent to you that you have not accepted or cancelled. Open native Skype from the tab and cancel the incoming file. This is a Skype issue and has been reported to them

Toolbar not working. Toolbar Skype Icon is Gray or Green
Skype Toolbar Icon is Gray - To communicate with Skype our Chat bar must be allowed to use Skype. Anytime this needs to be done you will see our pop up requesting it and native Skype will open automatically. Simply click the "Allow Access button" in native Skype window and the message will go away. Once you do this the Skype Icon in our chat bar will not turn GREEN.
Skype Toolbar Icon is Green - If the Toolbar Icon is Green but our bar is not working the likely problem is that Skype is not in Silent mode. Silent mode means that our Chat application will take over all Skype by basically putting the normal Skype Application to sleep. Skype will automatically come OUT of silent mode when you initiate a Video call or you accept a file transfer from someone. When this happens our software will alert you with a very small warning above the chat bar. Click the warning to put Skype back in silent mode.
NOTE: The steps below will guide you to where Skype keeps its authorized access section in native Skype. You should NOT have to do this but we wanted to let advanced users know where this info is stored.
| STEP 2 | At the Top Click Tools
|
| STEP 5 | Click Manage other programs access to Skype
|
| STEP 6 | Highlight the Protech Chat Bar.exe
|
| STEP 7 | Click Change and allow this program to use Skype and click OK
|
| STEP 8 | The Native Skype Client will close immediately and the chat bar will be come active. You will see the Gray Skype Icon turn green on the far left of the bar |

Uninstalling Chat App does not remove Application
We have had a number of people contact us saying that the Chat App uninstaller will not remove our software from their PC. After a good bit of chasing this we have concluded that the problem has NOTHING to do with our software. The issue is that some Virus Scanners Block the uninstaller from removing the application from your PC. To prevent this simply find the Virus Scanner in your system try and turn it off or disable it for a few minutes to remove our software. We would NEVER prevent you from removing our software. That is NOT how we do business in our company. Please contact us at sales@protech1inc.com if you need further assistance.

Video - How to Create a Video Call
When you make a call there is a small icon that looks like a video icon in the call area that you can click on to initiate the video in native Skype. We Know - that it would be very nice to integrate the video windows into the actual user tabs but right now SKYPE DOES NOT HAVE VIDEO API's. The second they offer them we will have the video integrated into the chat app in a seamless way but right now it just cannot be done.
NOTE: you may have to click on the users name in native Skype to get the video screen to come up. This is a Skype API issue that has been reported to Skype as well.
